2 EVS volunteers required for EVS project hosted by “Step by step” Association in Zamość . The project starts in February 2016 and it’s duration is 12 months.
Proposed activities for the EVS volunteers will be completely devoted to getting to know the mission, goals and forms of actions of the organisation as well as a course to introduce them to how to work with people with disabilities.
Volunteers will help plan activities and prepare resources required to conduct courses, which will assist them in gradual introduction to subjects connected with disability. They will have the ability to choose the age group, since the Association supports people of all ages. It must be stressed that while performing tasks they will be assisted by professional staff and that the volunteers will have the ability to improve their skills in this range through taking part in courses throughout the period of their residence.
The competence development path planned by us in range of an assistant/caretaker of a disabled person will be a chance to pursue career in this occupation for the young people after finishing the volunteering.
A young volunteer will not only gather information about disability and methods of working with the disabled, but at the beginning they will learn their predispositions and opportunities to work with these people. We plan to achieve this goal through rotation of a volunteer’s duties.
Additionally, during summer holidays the association hosts summer recreative-rehabilitative camps in Bondyrz (30 km from Zamosc). The volunteers will participate in the camps where they will help with organizing the camp as well as organize – together with the Polish volunteers – extra activities for the participants of the camp.
Managed by the association, the Nonpublic Special School Krok za krokiem in Zamosc has English language classes in its curriculum – we will encourage the volunteers to talk to the disabled students of this school in this language.
The EVS volunteers, apart from the everyday work, will organize informal meetings for employees and volunteers in order to exchange experience connected to living in different parts of Europe and mutual education about culture of one’s country.
Exceptionally desired by the association will be organization of shows, lectures or workshops by the volunteers in a casual form whose aim will be to teach about culture of given nation (music, dance, art, cuisine, religion, clothing etc.). Each good and new idea shall be accepted.
The persons who will not want to work in direct contact with the disabled children and youth will be offered tasks concerning administration work: office, IT, promotion and logistics departments, the library.
